The foundation course length in Hungary is 1 year, where students study language courses (English or Hungarian) plus academic courses related to their major, or either language courses or academic ones only, depending on students’ status and eligibility. Passing the foundation with acceptable grades is mandatory for progressing to 1st year of Bachelor Degree.

Foundation programs can be offered across several majors, depending on the University of Choice and the availability of the desired major foundation program. In general, there are foundation programs available in both Sciences and Non-Sciences majors in Hungary.

The academic year for foundation programs in Hungary starts off in September and lasts till June with long holidays in July and August.

The academic requirements for a foundation program in Hungary vary from one university to the other, as well as from one major to another. However, there are some standard admissions documents required by most universities to apply for a foundation program in Hungary; such as: High School Transcripts, proof of English proficiency through English entrance exam or IELTS. A minimum overall score of 5 to 6 is required by most universities in Hungary.
